Robert Hodgin – The most rewarding 8 to 12 hours of my life

The importance of sound in Flash design.  Robert found something he loved and stuck with it.
Video from Trentemoller “Miss You”.  All graphics were made through a script and it reacted to the sound waves.
Figure out what you love to do and then put the time into it.  It will take a long time and it might not be easy, but will be worth it.   It is also important to collaborate and work with others  using each others talents and skillset.
Robert invited Zoe Keating played cello live on stage while Robert created the visuals.  Amazing!

Greg Swann – Re: Discovery
Happiness is the fuel of Creativity.  Love what you do and the word WORK can become fun and see opportunities to enjoy ourselves.
Create Creative Cross-pollination.  Reach out and find people you can work with, develop collaborative partners.
Don’t get caught up in the layers, don’t let the barriers keep you from being creative.
Inspire Yourself.  In those moments all the hard work is worth it.  Embrace the unknown, fear is opportunity.  You can try things you never did before.
Trust yourself.

Lunchtime

Feel the burn...

Anthony usually doesn’t stray far from the standards when he chooses to eat, so I took him to Chinatown.  Below is a pic of him, getting ready to try dumplings and his shrimp with broccoli meal.  You can see the fish tank behind him…where multiple swimmers were giving him an uneasy stare.

He said he didn’t love it, but didn’t hate it either.   We’ll see what luck we have with the authentic mexican restaurant I take him to later.

I am also throwing in a shot of the hill that is a block off our hotel…at the same pace, Anthony gets to the top 10 seconds before me…everytime.

Keith Peters – Putting the Flash Back in Flash

Posted in Marty on August 20, 2008 by mtatff

Walked us through the timeline of the Flash experience on the web.
Jakob Nielson – usability guru sets off ‘dark times’ for Flash.  Puts out article that Flash is 99% bad.  Moves flash away from rich design to rich internet application.
Flash creates Flex to handle the content side, allowing Flash designers to be ‘more creative’.  Keith encouraged the audience to challenge each other and to push the envelope with what we can do from the design side of Flash.

Well, Anthony and I made it into our hotel safely last night.  The flight was long (or at least the second leg was) and Mr. Long legs was pretty tight in his seat. (see attached).  We are heading out for breakfast and our first session, so there will be more later.

Stay tuned.  marty
